Minkyu Kim
Professor Minkyu Kim is the head instructor and founder of Checkmat Korea. He is an experienced professional fighter and coach in brazilian jiujitsu, submission grappling, wrestling, MMA, and sambo. He has placed 2nd in an all Brazil IBJF sanctioned tournament as well as 1st in the DUMAU BJJ tournament in Japan. He holds a black belt in Brazilian jiujitsu from Checkmat founder Ricardo Viera in Brazil. His lineage in Brazilian jiujitsu is as follows:
Professor Minkyu Kim is also an experienced and effective BJJ and MMA coach. He has trained top fighters throughout Korea, including Road FC professional MMA fighter Doo Jae Jung. He is also an avid guitar player and a well loved coach by his students. You can find him almost every night teaching, sparring, and enjoying the camaraderie of his students.
